19 Aug Most Common Car Repairs During the Summer
If you plan to take a road trip this summer, you need to make sure your vehicle is in good working order. Here are some of the most common repairs you are likely to make during the summer months.
An Overheated Engine
The summer heat can be very hard on a car’s engine. You do have a cooling system to prevent it from overheating, but it’s often pushed to the limit on particularly hot days. If your engine does overheat, you will need some extra coolant or a thermostat repair before you can get back on the road.
A Battery Replacement
Car batteries are sensitive to extreme temperatures, so you will want to make sure your battery is in good shape if you plan to do any driving this summer. The rest of your vehicle can be perfectly fine, but you won’t be able to get anywhere if you have a bad battery.
Air Conditioner Repair
You probably haven’t had to use your car’s air conditioner during the winter and spring, so any issues that it may have will be far worse after six months of being essentially turned off. Have your air conditioner serviced before the weather gets too warm so you can rely on it when things start to get really hot.
Tire Changes
If you’ve been using winter tires in the snow, you will want to swap them out with summer or all-season tires before you hit the road. Winter tires are more expensive, and the last thing you want is to wear them out when you don’t need them. The asphalt will be much hotter in the summer, and that can really do a number on winter season tires.
